Dear members,
I would like to wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a happy and safe New Year.
Our club has made huge strides in 2011 and I’d like to take this opportunity to pass on a special thank you for all the support and passion you have given Essendon Football Club this year.
One area we continue to thrive in is the unified mindset of our members and supporters.
I would like to thank you for the way you have not only supported our club but the way you have got behind everything we are doing to build for the future.
I am not naïve to know that much of this unity has been built from the extraordinary presence and strength of James Hird.
James is a wonderful leader at our club and we must continue to give him and the football department the resources they need to compete.
There were so many wonderful highlights to dwell on from 2011. From the high of our win against Geelong to the great privilege of seeing long time supporter and volunteer Merna Slattery presented with life membership, the club continues to play its role in bringing pleasure to so many people.
My Christmas wish is that we all continue to be unified and strong in our support for the club we love so much.
Whether that's buying a membership, donating to the Flight Plan or simply supporting the team, it will all help.
You can all be sure that we are working extremely hard to give our fans something to be proud of.
With Christmas fast approaching, I wish everybody involved with Essendon Football Club a safe, happy and healthy festive season.
Enjoy this time with your families and know while it might be only a few days to Christmas it's also only 100 days to Round 1, and your other family at Essendon can't wait to welcome you back for season 2012!
Go Bombers!
Regards and best wishes
David Evans
