Essendon Football Club’s young brigade is embarking upon a team building camp through the Grampians over the next few days.
The trip is aimed at allowing the first and second year players at the club to learn from one another in a space away from the normal football environment.
Essendon's 2011 first round draft selection Elliot Kavanagh says the camp will hopefully provide an important bonding experience for the younger players at the club.
Essendon's 2011 first round draft selection Elliot Kavanagh says the camp will hopefully provide an important bonding experience for the younger players at the club.
“It will definitely be good to get away with the group of guys and get to know them a bit better than I already do,” Kavanagh said.
“We have all been doing different things during the pre-season so it will be good to narrow down and be able to work in smaller teams and groups.”
Kavanagh, selected to the Bombers with pick 19 in the national draft, hopes those going on the camp find it a rewarding experience.
“It should be really good for the guys going along, I think the main aim is to be able to help each other with structures and be able to speak up a bit more than we already do,” he said.
“It can be daunting when you first come into a football club and often you don’t feel like you have a voice.
“So I think that will be a major focus of the camp will be encouraging all of us to speak up more.”

what a fantastic opportunity for this young Bombers squad to develop personally & as a group. Must be hugely daunting to come into an established & strong environment, very wise to allow these talented guys an opportunity to grow, Elliot you seem mature & level headed, enjoy the camp all of you.
This is a brilliant innovation, to create that important sense of belonging and strengthened rapport amongst the young guys, who are the future of the mighty Bombers!
Hi Essendon Insider.
Would it be possible to update player's details as seems to be one year out of date.
An exciting season coming up. I have high hope for our midfield and feel it will be the surprise of the season
Hope Gumby reaches full fitness as he could well prove to be a dominant forward.

Yep, a great idea although I would have liked to see the leadership group involved as well.
Let the youngsters enjoy the experience, growing up a little,or a lot..let them learn how to bond together, have fun together, learn to be dedicated at the Mighty EFC,forge a career to set them up for life..learn what it is like to have the capacity to be extroverted, and to have a say..!! I suppose labore is worried about the cost here too... Great posts Charles & Gail :-)
And another magical post again from Dennis. Well said mate, deserves the posting recognition on the Home Page :-) :-) Go Bombers!!
Not just bonding, but a bit of altitude training as well!
Happy New Year everyone :) Sorry for the long absence. I hope you all had a great break. Good luck to all our young Bombers. Look forward to seeing you shine in 2012. Angie :)
gumby had to potenial to be one of the best forards in the game... thats true.... unfortunately I dont think we will ever see it. which is a massive shame. Ive been hoping he'll prove me wrong for 3 or 4 years now. but this would almost have to be he's last shot you'd think... anyone think we should make a serious play for deledio this year ?? maryborough boy like crameri. only 24. bout to be free agent. skillful player
Sorry if this post is repeated (lost power in storm) but I can picture the lads walking out onto the Nerve Test (courage), chasing kangaroos at Zumsteins (pace, agility, stamina) swimming across Lake Bellfield (strength & aerobic) then running up the Elephant Hide to The Pinnacle and abseiling back down (illegal, I know). Sounds like a great place to bond.
Great to have you back Angie,a very Happy New Year to you. The naughty chair is sitting there waiting for you to send it some customers.
When can we get some snaps of the new rookies under the team player profiles of this website?
