Watson says contract deals point to bright future

Attending a PUMA mosquito clinic today, twenty-three year old Jobe Watson told media that the number of recent big-name signings - including Scott Lucas, Dustin Flecther and David Hille - showed the faith the players had in the future of this Essendon squad. Watson, too, recently signed a two-year deal taking him until the end of the 2010 season. “It’s great to be given the opportunity to stay for another two years - I think we are heading in an upward direction and I am thrilled to be part of it,” Watson said.

New contracts for Lucas and Fletcher

Essendon veterans Scott Lucas and Dustin Fletcher have signed new one-year contracts, chief operating officer, Travis Auld, announced today. “This is really good news for us - between Scott and Dustin they have over 500 games of AFL experience,” Auld said. “Both are best and fairest winners, both are premiership players and they are very important to this club.”

Ticket deal and special function for Eagles clash

Essendon FC travel has secured 40 tickets for the Bombers’ big clash with West Coast on Sunday, 10th August (Round 19) at Subiaco. And as an added bonus you can attend the WA Bombers’ function with the players and coaches on Friday, 8th August.

Bendigo take on Port Melbourne

Bendigo faces perhaps their toughest test of the year when they take on an in form Port Melbourne in the VFL match of the round this weekend. Bendigo will be buoyed by the return of Heath Hocking for his first game for Bendigo this year and will be looking to fellow Essendon youngster, Tom Hislop, to continue to get better after returning from injury.

Lonergan stars on The Hangar

Young gun, Sam Lonergan, is Andrew Welsh’s special guest on the hit Bomber.tv show The Hangar. After just 12 games, Lonergan has become a key member of the Bombers’ line-up and looks set for a long career in the red and back.
