"The fact the family is interstate means we can't get to many games so we bought a Beyond the Boundary membership which includes things like the Bomber Magazine and Bomber.tv," Liz said. "So much of the local media is focussed on the Adelaide teams - this keeps us updated and supporting the Club. It makes you feel like you are involved even though we are interstate and I guess that is the main thing."
"It makes it easy to keep up with how his football is tracking but the other things you miss are the everyday things like the friends dropping in, and doing things as a family. But we often speak to him on the phone to get an update of what is going on with him personally."
"It’s good to see photos of him in the Bomber Magazine or photos of any of them really," Liz said. "In particular it good to read about the younger guys and his friends and the club generally."
A journalism student at LaTrobe University, Angus put his skills to use in Edition 48 of the Bomber Magazine last year, grilling Bachar Houli on his AFL debut, an article which particularly impressed his mum.
"I thought that was pretty good," Liz said. "I thought he did a really good job."
Beyond the Boundary memberships include an Essendon membership kit plus; a 2008 Essendon Football Club diary, Puma cap, bbq apron, tin of playing cards, mini car scarf, 2008 Essendon season guide, Bomber.tv membership, the Bomber Magazine mailed to your home four times per year, a Bomber birthday card, fortnightly enewsletter and full members’ voting rights for members aged 18 years and over.
