NORTH SHORE TEAM OF THE CENTURY
North Shore Australian Football Club has named it's Team of the Century at a gala dinner on Saturday 13th July. The Centenary Dinner was held at the Sydney Convention & Exhibition Centre at Darling Harbour and was attended by over 200 past and present players, members, officials and supporters.
North Shore entered the Sydney AFL competition in 1903. The club has won ten first grade premierships in 1904, 1909, 1921, 1952, 1961, 1978, 1979, 1985, 1991 and 2001. This year marks North Shore's 100th season in the competition and to celebrate it has announced a team of the best players to have represented the club in its history. Over half of the team was present on the night to receive a special presentation.
On a night to celebrate the history of the club, a presentation was also made to club stalwart Lionel Beale. Beale has had a continuos involvement with North Shore for over 30 years and is still serving as the club's publicity officer and timekeeper.
The Team of the Century is listed below in playing positions. 25 players were named (three as emergencies) in the team. Three members of the Team of the Century are current players. They are Matthew Parker (current club captain), Mark Brady (current vice-captain) and Jason Bush.
