The senior midfielder had a brilliant start to the 2013 season averaging 28 disposals and kicking five goals in the opening five weeks. Although not such a lightning start in 2014, Stanton has proved he is a consistent performer with his hard running and outstanding kicking skills. His leadership and experience is important throughout the young Bomber midfield.

Season by Season

Runner-up spot in the Bombers' best and fairest was reward for a brilliant second half of the year after the hard-running midfielder had a slow start to the season playing through the pain of a cracked shoulder blade. The 25-year-old led the club in kicks (343) and handballs received (217) and was in the top five for marks, handballs, inside 50s, rebound 50s and loose-ball gets. Into his ninth AFL season and in Essendon’s leadership group, Stanton is an essential part of the Bombers’ midfield.
