David Zaharakis didn't have the season he would have hoped for. Elevated to the leadership group at the beginning of the year, the midfielder was struck down with a number of different injuries, hurting his ability to build consistency throughout the season. The speedy midfielder began to find some form towards the end of the season particularly against the Gold Coast Suns in Round 21 where he gathered 25 disposals, took six marks and laid six tackles. Zaharakis will be hoping for an injury free 2016 and a return to his absolute best.

Season By Season

Season By Season

A quad injury on the eve of the NAB Cup sidelined the midfielder for the pre-season competition and it took him time to find his groove. He gathered pace after a few early games and won the Anzac Day Medal for a brilliant four-goal, 34-disposal game against Collingwood. He continued at the same level and was adding his pace and class to the midfield before he copped a heavy knock in his back and suffered a cracked bone, which restricted his run and drive in the latter stages of the year.

Season By Season

After a slower start to the season than he expected, Zaharakis burst into action in the middle of 2014 with a career-best form patch. He gathered more than 30 disposals in four consecutive
weeks, including a four-goal effort against Melbourne. Zaharakis’ sure skills, pace and goal-sense add a vital element to the club’s midfield.

He will be a long-term Bomber after agreeing to a contract extension through to the end of 2017.
