It was a frustrating season for Colyer, who was unable to establish himself in the senior line-up. Despite his breakaway pace, he only managed seven games. His best outing game against Greater Wester Sydney in round 17, when he had 16 disposals and kicked four goals. If Colyer’s kicking efficiently can improve, he will be in a good position to stay in Essendon’s side after agreeing to a new two-year contact at the start of the season.

West Australian Colyer quickly gained a reputation as a super sub after damaging performances off the bench in Essendon’s wins over Geelong in round 15 and Port Adelaide in round 23. Though small, he is tenacious, has speed and can kick goals. Will be keen to secure his position in the team in his third season after agreeing to a new two-year deal.
