After an outstanding season in 2014 that culminated in All-Australian selection, Cale Hooker continued his rapid progression. The West Australian started the year in his familiar defensive post, before moving to the forward line at the halfway point of the season. His aerial presence was strong and he also made an impact on the scoreboard, finishing the year with 21-goals. Hooker was recognised for his efforts at both ends of the ground by taking out the Crichton Medal.

Season by Season

A persistent hamstring injury set back Hooker's development in 2011after he established himself as the club’s centre half-back in 2009 and 2010. The disciplined and reliable defender had an excellent start to the year before tearing his hamstring in round 13 against North Melbourne. He played only one more game for the year—against Port Adelaide in round 23.

Season By Season

All-Australian selection capped an amazing turnaround in Hooker's career in 2014. The key defender became Essendon's most reliable backman, regularly shutting down important marking forwards. He started his season with a terrific 16-mark and 26-disposal performance against North Melbourne and continued in the saem vein by playing every game to be named in the AFL's team of the year and the runner-up in Essendon's best and fairest count.
