In the first major injury of his career, Watson missed 10 weeks with a rare hip injury that required surgery. He returned to play the final four games, including a 30-disposal effort in his first game back from the long layoff. The Bombers skipper continues to be an enourmous part of the club's midfield and the reliance on him is strong at the clearances. His leadership during Essendon's turbulent two seasons has been admirable.

Season by Season

Season by Season

Another outstanding season for Watson in 2013, despite breaking his collarbone in round 15 against Port Adelaide, saw him claim his second All-Australian selection and runner-up in the best and fairest. His start to the 2014 season continues to exemplify Watson’s ball-winning ability in close and skills on the outside. A proven performer, his leadership continues to go from strength-to-strength.
