NEAGLE, Jay
Born: 17/01/1988
Height: 190 cm
Weight: 96 kg
Debut order: 1072
Jay Neagle was drafted to Essendon under the father-son rule, being the son of former champion Essendon and Sydney winger Merv Neagle who played 147 games for Essendon. Jay impressed as a forward for Gippsland Power in 2005 and represented Victoria Country. His first season for the club in 2006 was ruined by a severe ankle injury and did not play an AFL game.
Neagle finally made his senior debut for Essendon in the last round of season 2007 in Perth against West Coast, in James Hird's and coach Kevin Sheedy's farewell games for Essendon. Neagle is a strong mark and after playing a number of games for Bendigo, impressed the coaching staff with his explosive pace, power and long kicking.
He played seven games in 2008 kicking 10 goals.
Neagle played 12 games in 2009, but only eight in 2010. He continues to tease supporters with glimpses of his talent, but seems unable to play consistent football.
