Needs to improve fitness to maximise his ability and capitalise on the opportunities on offer with the departure of Matthew Lloyd and Scott Lucas.Career ProfileJay Neagle was drafted to Essendon under the father-son rule, being the son of former champion Essendon and Sydney winger Merv Neagle who played 147 games for Essendon. Jay impressed as a forward for Gippsland Power in 2005 and represented Victoria Country. His first season for the club in 2006 was ruined by a severe ankle injury and did not play an AFL game.Neagle finally made his senior debut for Essendon in the last round of season 2007 in Perth against West Coast, in James Hird's and coach Kevin Sheedy's farewell games for Essendon. Neagle is a strong mark and after playing a number of games for Bendigo, impressed the coaching staff with his explosive pace, power and long kicking. He played seven games in 2008 kicking 10 goals.
