Can play forward in lead-up roles if required, and is prepared to sacrifice his game in any given assignment for the benefit of the team.Career ProfileSam Lonergan is a hard-working mid-fielder from Tasmania who gained All-Australian U18 honours and won the Tassie Mariners' Best and Fairest award for two consecutive years.He spent most of season 2006 in the Bendigo Bombers but finally made his debut that year against St Kilda in Round 15. He suffered knee problems in 2007 and did not play a senior game. Lonergan had a great year in 2008, playing 19 games of tough, aggressive football and marked himself as a young player to watch.
