After playing just one game in his previous two seasons at the club, Sam Lonergan played out of his skin in 2008 and earned admiration from Bomber supporters along the way. The young Tasmanian thrives on winning plenty of the ball and fearlessly threw himself into every contested situation during 19 games last year. To assist his hard in-and-under style, Lonergan also has the speed to run and carry. A natural ball winner, Lonergan also shows great decision-making when the ball is in his hands. He was one of the finds of 2008 and his professionalism on and off the field should see him continue to improve in 2009.
