2010 PreviewIn a 2009 season that could have presented opportunities aplenty due to the knee injury to fellow ruckman David Hille, Laycock suffered a similar fate, unable to play a game due to a navicular (foot) problem. Now entering the final year of his contract, the big man needs to step up to cement his future at the club.Career ProfileJason Laycock was drafted by Essendon in the 2002 National draft as a first round selection, number 10 overall. He is a mobile ruckman who can also play as a forward. He made his senior debut in Round 19, 2004, against Carlton, where he impressed immediately with his strong marking and versatility. Essendon have shown a lot of faith in the young ruckman as the Club has given him a lot of time to develop. He won a NAB Rising Star nomination for his game against Collingwood on Anzac Day in 2005. He was showing enough potential to suggest he could develop into an important player in the ruck and on the forward line being given responsibility in the absence of David Hille and Matthew Allen. But unfortunatly a strained calf muscle ended his 2005 season and he missed the last seven games. He suffered further knee and foot injuries in 2006 which restricted him to just six games. 2007 proved to be a much better year for Laycock and he played 19 games giving David Hille good support in the ruck. He played a further 16 games in 2008. Draft History: 2002 National AFL Draft 1st round selection (Essendon), No. 10 overall, traded by Melbourne for View Jason's profile in our Past Player database
