2010 PreviewAfter playing every game in a variety of roles last season, Dyson was recognised as the club’s most improved player. Was given extended opportunities by the coaching staff and rewarded their faith by finishing first in long kicks (73) as well as racking up 201 handball receives and pumping the ball inside 50 on 84 occasions. The 24-year-old will be looking to back up his effort in 2010.Career ProfileRicky Dyson is a fast midfielder who likes to run and carry the ball. He has a booming left-foot and can also play forward. Ricky was a member of the AIS-AFL Academy in 2002 and All-Australian at U18 level in 2003, and is also known for his strong work ethic and leadership skills. He had a very promising debut season in 2004 and quickly jumped ahead of many nominated before him, showing glimpses of class in his 11 games, playing mainly on the wing. Dyson had to work his way back into form after being struck with osteitis pubis early in the 2005 season. He showed he could be an instrumental midfielder, effective under pressure and also a promising goalkicker, but there were limited opportunities for him to play in the senior side and he could manage only 10 games for the year. He played 17 games in 2006 and almost cemented himself in the senior line-up. He was still slight of stature and needed to add consistency to his running game but could still be dangerous near goal and with his link play. Dyson played 11 games in 2007 and 15 in 2008. Draft History: 2003 National AFL Draft 3rd round selection (Essendon) No. 44 overall. View Ricky's profile in our Past Player database
