2010 PreviewThe mid-sized backman enjoyed another consistent year in 2009, finishing 10th in the best and fairest and doing his utmost to quell the opposition’s most dangerous mobile forward each week. Showed his attacking capabilities with 25 possessions against Richmond in round 17, but thrives on applying defensive pressure and sacrificing for the good of the team. Has played 61 games over the past three seasons.Career ProfileHenry Slattery was drafted by Essendon from West Adelaide at no. 36 in the 2004 National Draft. His excellent form with the Bendigo Bombers in 2005 saw him win senior selection in Round 13, 2005. His first kick in the senior team was a goal, so he joined a small but illustrious list which includes Matthew Lloyd.Slattery suffered a calf injury towards the end of 2005 and was troubled by a hip injury in 2006, but he developed throughout the 2007 season into a quality defender. He is fearless and plays with genuine aggression towards the ball. He led Essendon's tackle count with 78 in the 2007 season. He continued this good form and played a further 20 games in 2008.
