Two Bombers have been chosen in this week’s AFL team of the week.

AFL.com.au’s writers could not ignore the performances of both Michael Hartley and Zach Merrett in the team’s narrow loss to St.Kilda on Sunday.

Bruce was highlighted as a danger player for the Bombers leading up into the game, with the Saints forward having kicked 15 goals in the last three meetings.

Hartley nullified Bruce’s impact on the game, restricting him to just one goal for the afternoon.

This is the defenders second time in the AFL’s team of the week.

ZACH MERRETT (Essendon) – One of Essendon's brightest young stars was again outstanding with 36 possessions, seven clearances, five tackles and a goal. (AFL.com.au)

Merrett has consistently been one of Essendon’s best this year, and his performance against the Saints was no exception.

The youngster, who has been working closely with Chris Judd this season, also caught the attention of the AFL Coaches  - receiving eight votes on the weekend.
