Essendon defender Adam Saad will wear specialised boots for Sunday’s round one clash against GWS in honour of the victims of the Christchurch tragedy.

In conjunction with Puma, Saad will run out with the message #westandtogether on his boots alongside the date of the attack, which claimed the lives of at least 50 people last week.

All fans will then have the opportunity to bid for them online, with all proceeds of the auction to be donated to the victims.

The 24-year-old said he wanted to honour the victims of the mass killing, which took place last Friday in two mosques in New Zealand, with a message of unity.

Essendon and GWS players will join all other AFL teams this weekend by wearing black armbands in memory of the victims.

Bidding for the boots will close at 7pm AEDT on March 29.
