The Essendon Women’s Network has appointed a new chair with former vice-chair Lisa Egan taking over the reins of the coterie group.

2019 is set to be another exciting year for the EWN, with a special social night, a Christmas cocktail event and the annual Grand Final Comedy Debate.

The comedy debate will once again feature the AFL endorsed Football Woman of the Year Awards and is always a highlight of the year for the club.

Egan said she is thrilled to head the group following 18 months as vice-chair.

“I am honoured to have the opportunity to lead the EWN, and in particular I am thankful for the great work done by the previous chairs and their committees, including our previous chair Karen Cusack,” Egan said.

“Karen remains on our committee with Rozalee Erceg and Jane Grover, and our newest recruit, Jane McCubbin. I am very grateful for their support and hard work.

“I am a lifelong Bomber supporter, now raising three more Bomber fans in my sons Tom, Jack and Josh, with my husband Danny, luckily also a Bombers supporter. My full-time job is as an in-house lawyer, and my weekends are generally taken up with junior footy.

“For me, involvement with the EWN provides the opportunity to combine some of my passions –supporting and empowering women, celebrating women’s contribution to Aussie Rules football, and of course, the Essendon Football Club.”
