Senior coach John Worsfold puts the Bombers' recent form down to the team’s ability to remain composed during tough games.

Essendon came back brilliantly from a 30-point deficit against Adelaide on Friday night, turning the game on its head to beat the Crows on their home turf by 21 points.

It was the fourth week in a row in which the Bombers have come from behind to take home the win.

“We have been pretty tight all the way in games and on Friday night, there was no point that I felt as though it was out of our reach,” Worsfold said on SEN on Tuesday.

“Our focus has been on understanding that the game, more than ever, goes through momentum swings with teams.

“When a team is on top of you, you have to guts it out for that period and make sure that you don’t get despondent.

“The fact that we can stick to what we are trying to do and continue to work away, it has meant that when the possibility of a momentum swing was there, we were able to grab it.”

The Bombers made four changes to their line-up ahead of the clash with the Crows, with Michael Hurley (shoulder), Orazio Fantasia (hip), Zac Clarke (illness) and Jayden Laverde (managed) unable to play.

Captain Dyson Heppell, Patrick Ambrose and Michael Hartley returned, while Will Snelling made his debut in the red and black.

“Going into the game, we knew we had to be up for the challenge. Having a few changes to the line-up, we knew we were going to absolutely have to put everything together to come away with the four points,” Worsfold said.

“I am really proud of the efforts, especially when we were down early on but hung in there to get the game back on our terms.

“Overall, we had to deal with availability of players as we do every week. The general aim is to put your best side on the park, have players in their best positions and go about playing the style of football you think will be good enough to win a premiership down the track.

“When you have injuries to key players, you look at who you have available. Unfortunately, we had no recognisable ruckman available and that meant we had to look at different opportunities as well as having Michael Hurley out injured. The adjustments you make, you have to weigh it all up.”

The Bombers will take on Gold Coast this Sunday afternoon at Metricon Stadium.
