Every round, the AFL coaches vote for the best players from their game. The coaches vote for five players, giving them a mark from 1-5.

The maximum a player can score is 10 (with five votes from both coaches).

In a starring game, David Zaharakis produced a career best 40 disposal game in Essendon's win over the Gold Coast Suns.

After struggling in recent games, Zacka fought off attention from the Gold Coast taggers to have a positive impact on the game.

He was on fire from the first bounce collecting 14 possessions in the first quarter alone.

Zaharakis wasn't the only one to reach career best figures.

Zach Merrett's 38 possessions was also a personal best for the youngster who was prolific in his first game as Captain.
