Nate Caddy has earned a second career Telstra Rising Star nomination, taking home the round nine nod following a scintillating performance against Sydney.
The 19-year-old posed a threat right from the opening minutes in Saturday night’s exciting eight-point win, hitting the scoreboard twice in the opening term before finishing with 16 disposals, six inside 50’s, three marks inside 50 and an equal career-high three goals.
Caddy was once again eligible for the Telstra Rising Star award in 2025 despite already receiving a nomination in his debut season for a breakout display against the SUNS, having played just the 10 games leading into this campaign.
A second acknowledgement is fitting reward for the emerging forward, who’s developing nicely at the level and currently leading the Club’s goalkicking with 11 goals from all eight matches this season.
Caddy joins defender Archie Roberts as the second Bomber to receive a nomination for the award this season, adding to a fruitful two months for the Club with fellow youngsters such as Zach Reid and Isaac Kako also growing nicely into the AFL system.
“To get a second nomination and recognition for your work is obviously something really cool and I'm very grateful for it,” Caddy said.
“We’ve got a really good group of youngsters who’ve shown they can come in, start to take a hold of games and really drive us into the future. ‘Reidy’ on the weekend was unbelievable, ‘Robbo’s getting really consistent and among the best every weekend.
“It’s exciting what we’re going to be able to bring over the next few years.”
Caddy and the Bombers now look ahead to two exciting clashes for Sir Doug Nicholls Round, beginning with the Bulldogs at Marvel Stadium on Saturday night before the marquee Dreamtime at the ‘G clash against Richmond the following Friday.
“Having some huge games coming up is really exciting,” Caddy said.
“Dreamtime’s where I debuted last year, so to potentially play in that again is a real honour but it's going to be good to see where we stack up in the next few weeks.”
