Father/Son selection Joe Daniher has officially joined Essendon after the club tonight selected him with pick 10 at the National Draft on the Gold Coast.

The Bombers had committed during last month’s trade period to selecting Daniher with the club’s first round selection following the Father/Son bidding process.

Joe will follow in the footsteps of his brother (Darcy), father (Anthony) and uncles (Terry, Neale and Chris) who have all called Essendon home.

His father Anthony played 118 games for Essendon between 1987 and 1994.

The ruckman/forward who is 201cms tall and 90kg earned All-Australian selection after standout performances for Vic Metro at this year’s AFL Under 18 National Championships.

Joe was also named in the TAC Cup Team of the Year despite playing just seven games for the Calder Cannons.
