Essendon Football Club is closing in on a special membership landmark as it edges closer to the 60,000 members.

The Bombers are under 500 members of the milestone after a big week for the club eventuating in a spirited performance by the team on Sunday.

The current membership tally sits at 59,535.

The Bomber fans were out in force with the support for the team unbelievable in the gallant defeat.

Coach, Mark Thompson was determined for a solid week on the track as the team now looks ahead to this weekend against Adelaide.

“We’ll come in on Monday and go through the same process,” he said.

“Talk to one-another, show a few edits, train them up, recover them; treat them if they’re injured.”

“In the end, talk’s pretty cheap isn’t it, if you don’t get out there on the weekend and just do it.”
