Essendon Football Club is pleased to announce it has secured the signature of Paul Chapman ahead of the 2014 season.

The triple premiership player has signed a one-year deal with the option of a second year.

Chapman admits he’s looking forward to being reunited and playing under former coach Bomber Thompson.

“I know I still have more football left in me and I’m really pleased Essendon has provided me with the opportunity to continue my career,” Chapman said.

“It’s going to be great working alongside Bomber, a man who I have so much respect for, and hopefully we can enjoy some more success together.”

“Moving cIubs is never easy, and Geelong has been terrific to me over the journey and provided me with so many fantastic memories, but I’m looking forward to meeting my new teammates and getting on with the next chapter in my career.”

Senior coach Bomber Thompson said ‘Chappy’ would bring valuable experience to the playing list.

“Paul is a terrific signing for the football club, he has a great work ethic, he’s a winner and he demands the best from his teammates,” Thompson said.

“He will add another dimension to our forward line and also our midfield. He is a great leader and will be a fantastic role model for our younger players.”

List manager Adrian Dodoro said Chapman is an exciting addition to the Bombers’ playing list.

“As Bomber touched on Paul brings more than 250 games of experience to our list, he’s a proven performer and still has a couple of really good seasons left in him.”

“We feel he’s a really exciting acquisition for the club and we can’t wait to see him in the red and black in 2014.”
