Kyle Langford was among 12 Bombers with less than 50 games experience to take the field against the Suns.

The 19 year old impressed in his eight games for the Club in his first season last year.

At 191 centimetres, Langford is tall enough to stretch smaller opponents in the forward 50, but he is also capable of playing through the midfield.

Langford occupied more time in the middle of the ground during the NAB Challenge, but the majority of his match against Gold Coast was spent in the forward half.

“It’s good leaping at the ball again,” Langford said.

“It’s something I did in underage footy and it’s great for me to take the next step.

“Hopefully a few more marks come my way and hopefully I kick a few more goals.

“I’m feeling very comfortable up there.”

Langford picked up 13 possessions, took three marks and kicked a goal against the Suns.

After a slow start, the new look Bombers line-up showed improved cohesion in the second half.

“We set ourselves a goal to try and outscore them,” Langford said.

“I think they just got us but the game was definitely on even terms in the second half (it was six goals to four after half time).

“We just need to get that consistency through our press and through our game plan and keep executing that.”

This is Langford’s second season as an AFL player after joining the Club with the Bombers first pick in the 2014 National Draft.

Another top pick was also on display with the 25-possession debut of Darcy Parish catching the eye of fans, commentators and teammates.

“All pre-season he’s been a highlight,” Langford said.

“I think he had 12 contested possessions and it just shows what sort of a player he can be for us.”
