Essendon Coach John Worsfold says the Bombers will weigh up playing two ruckmen in Sunday’s clash against Fremantle.

With the form of Tom Bellchambers and the return of Matthew Leuenberger, the Dons have the option of selecting both players to take on the Dockers Aaron Sandilands.

“You can play two ruckmen, especially if they’re good marking forwards as well, which we think both of them are, but that’s just one avenue of selection we can look at this week,” Worsfold said.

“He (Leuenberger) is a chance to come back in, we just rested him on the weekend so he is fresh and ready to go.

“We will assess how we rated Tommy’s (Bellchambers) game on the weekend and then we will make that call.

“We will way up what we think is the best team to go up against them. The good part is we’ve still got a healthy squad with a lot of players in really good form.”

Essendon is looking to bounce back after the 38-point loss to Melbourne.

The side is tenth on the ladder with three wins and three losses.

“We’ve been inconsistent and our real aim at the moment is to build consistency in our week to week efforts but also in the way we want to play,” Worsfold said.

“We’ve seen some really good patches of it but we aren’t seeing it at the level that we want in terms of game to game but even within the game.”

Inaccuracy in front of goals was costly in the side’s loss to Melbourne.

Forward Joe Daniher kicked six behinds and one out on the full in Sunday’s match.

Worsfold said he has full faith in Daniher’s form and the program he is working on to improve his performance.

“It’s about consistency of practice and focus on what he’s working on. It was a one off event in terms of a really inaccurate display,” Worsfold said.

“Part of what Joe is doing is a program to improve his kicking. That’s over the course of the next eight years, he won’t stop working on getting better as a player.”

Worsfold said he would encourage Daniher to stick to the program that he’s got in place.

“Keep working at it and believing in it,” he said.

“When you try new things you often go through a period when it feels a bit uncomfortable and it’s a bit harder, but the champions keep working at it and come through that a lot better.”

Essendon will fly to Perth this weekend to take on Fremantle at Domain Stadium.

The Dockers are sitting below the Bombers in 11^th position on the ladder, with three wins and three losses.

“They had a slow start but they’ve been very competitive after the first couple of rounds,” Worsfold said.

“Their effort and pressure has been back to what you’d expect from Fremantle. They’ve been quite impressive.

“Every game is important for us. For where we’re at, we are really looking forward to that challenge, getting over there and putting a more consistent performance together.”
