Anthony McDonald-Tipungwuti says he is honoured to be a part of Dreamtime at the G and looks forward to the occasion each year.

The annual blockbuster continues to grow and Saturday’s edition is set to be the third time he has taken part in the special match.

“It is very special for myself and for my family at the same time and I think it should be special for everyone, all Australians to celebrate the great heritage that we have,” McDonald-Tipungwuti said.

“It’s a great honour that we have this round. I’d say every game you want to get up and going and help your team and I guess this one is very special and it’s the one I really look forward to.”

McDonald-Tipungwuti and Richmond rival Daniel Rioli both hail from the Tiwi Islands and the Tiger said the match is a great opportunity to embrace and celebrate their home.

“To represent your home town and the Tiwi Islands for myself and Walla, it’s unbelievable to run out there on the G and represent your people,” Rioli said.

McDonald-Tipungwuti joined teammates Jake Long and Luke Lavender in selecting the winning Dreamtime Guernsey design from Tiwi College student Arthurina Moreen, and said he was excited to wear it on the MCG on Saturday.

“We came to agreement that we were going to pick this one and it’s a very special one,” he said.

“I guess artwork that a story and it’s very special to see us players wearing it and for me and my teammates at the same time to celebrate.”
