Something of a new approach for Essendon, well that I’m aware of at least, is the club’s partnership with the local Indian community. With the club’s move to the True Value Solar Centre, and the Hume City Council generally, we’ve embraced the opportunity to engage with our newest community members.

The Indian community is both vibrant and growing. As a club, we are working hard to make our club accessible and representative of the community in which we operate.

Coming from Perth originally, the different areas of Melbourne have been pretty unknown to me generally, but the club’s community team is doing a mountain of work to provide value and experiences for multicultural communities and I see the benefits via a changing face of the crowd at games.

I think it would be a big statement for the club to get over to India at some point in the future and really show the local community that we are genuinely interested in other cultures and how we can be the best community citizen that we can be.

I’d put my hand up for a trip, but would probably have to go easy on the really hot food.
