The Melbourne Airport Project is a critical project to deliver a generational change for the Club and provide our players with the best training environment.

The Club has a comprehensive fundraising strategy to ensure the success of the project, which will see a large part of the funding provided by the Federal and State governments and the AFL.

Essendon Football Club is planning to seek some help from our members and supporters, but we are not expecting our members to pay for the balance of the project cost.

Over the coming months, more information on this matter will be communicated directly to members, including the exciting facility plans that are currently being prepared.

Essendon Chairman David Evans called the move, set to take place in 2013, ""bold and exciting ... and incredibly critical"" at Wednesday's lunch for the Dick Reynolds Club.

The new complex will include MCG-sized and Etihad Stadium-sized ovals, two buildings housing all staff members and an extensive indoor training area, plus recovery swimming pool.

More details will be available shortly.
