Essendon Football Club is pleased to confirm, Steven Alessio, has been appointed to the position of Football Operations Manager.

General Manager of Football Operations, Danny Corcoran, said Steven was the standout candidate for the job after carving out a successful career in his role with the AFL Players Association.

 “After an extensive interview process, that included a number of high quality candidates, it became clear Steven was the perfect fit for the role,” said Corcoran.

 “We believe Steven’s previous role with the AFL Players Association gives him great insight into the industry.

“It’s fantastic to have Steven back at the Club he called home for more than ten years, not to mention the valuable knowledge he will bring as a premiership player.”

Steven admits he’s excited about the challenges that await in season 2013.

“I’m very honoured to return to the Essendon Football Club in my role as Football Operations Manager,” said Alessio.

“I look forward to playing my part in ensuring and maintaining Essendon as one of the AFL’s most successful clubs.”

The former ruckman played 184 games for Essendon and was a member of the 2000 Premiership side.
