Captain Jobe Watson is set to have a further indication about a potential return date later this week following a scan to his rectus femoris tendon.

Watson will meet with surgeon Julian Feller as he continues to progress well in his recover from surgery to repair the ruptured tendon.

“I have a consultation with Julian Feller, who was the suregion who operated on me,” Watson said before Sunday’s win over Collingwood.

“I’ll go and get a scan to see how it’s tracking and based upon the scan he’ll give me an idea of how long he thinks it will take.”

“Up until this stage it’s going quite well, so I will have to wait and see what the prognosis is.”

A positive scan result is likely to see Watson return to the field before the end of the home and away season.

The captain said he was pleased with how the team had been playing since he suffered his injury against Greater Western Sydney in Round 12.

“We have seen the development of a few guys in particular – Dyson Heppell, David Myers, David Zaharakis, Brendon Goddard and Trav Colyer coming into the side has added another dimension,” he said.

“We’re slowly building. I feel like we’ve been playing a reasonable brand of football since the Swans took us apart and they seem to be doing that to a lot of teams at the moment.”

“In the second half of the year I feel as if we’ve been better prepared than in previous years.”
