Essendon Football Club has revealed more exciting match day initiatives planned for the 2015 season.

Chief Marketing Officer Justin Rodski said the Club had a number of big plans to improve the fan experience.

“Our focus is on creating a uniquely Essendon fan experience at all our home games,” Rodski said.

“We want our games to be affordable and accessible but we also want to make sure we are providing great entertainment and customer service from the minute our fans arrive at the stadium.”

Rodski said the Club planned to launch Kevin Sheedy’s famous jacket wave as permanent feature at home games.

“The Kevin Sheedy jacket wave is iconic and we'll be looking to replicate this famous ritual at every game this year.”

“In the past, we have only done it against West Coast, but we think now the time has come to make this part of the EFC home ground identity.”

The Club also revealed it is exploring the possibility of turning out the lights at Etihad Stadium against North Melbourne in Round 7.

“We would love to trial turning out the lights for our Friday night match against the Kangaroos,” Rodski said

“The stadium would be blacked out and a spotlight would be on the team as they come up the race - creating an amazing spectacle as the team runs onto the field.”

“We do need to consider the impact it will have on the broadcaster, the safety and operational impact in the stadium and the timing from a football preparation perspective but if we can make it happen, we will give it a go this year and see what the response is like.”

Rodski added that there would be a greater emphasis on customer service at every game this season.

“We are set to have a 'street team' of volunteers and extra staff on hand at every game to help fans with directions to seats, handing out merchandise to kids and generally providing information to our fans as they arrive at the venue,” he said.

“We are going to improve our customer service across all touch points, provide a greater level of interaction while making sure all our games are family friendly with lots of activities to entertain the kids.”

“The fans are the fabric of Essendon and they have held our club together over the last few years in many respects - everything we do is about making our people and our fans proud to be part of the Essendon fabric this year.”

The Bombers family friendly fixture features a number of blockbuster matches at the MCG including games against Hawthorn (84/85 - 30 year Premiership celebration), Collingwood (100 year commemoration of Anzac Day), Richmond (Dreamtime at the G) and Melbourne (10th anniversary of the Call To Arms clash) and Dustin Fletcher’s record-breaking 400th game milestone.

“We have so many big blockbusters, in traditional timeslots this season and I know our fans are proud of the Essendon Football Club’s association with these marquee games,” Rodski said
