One of the positives to emerge from Essendon’s 20-point loss to Collingwood was the return of Will Hams.

The ferocious on-baller played two games in 2013 but spent most of 2014 on the sidelines through injury.

After starting as the sub against the Magpies, Hams was introduced midway through the third quarter.

“I was pretty edgy to get on for most of the game.  I was just trying to keep myself cool but I was pretty excited to get on,” he said.

In his limited game time, Hams picked up four possessions and laid three tackles in the greasy conditions.

“It was wet conditions so it slowed it down a bit.  It wasn’t too much to adjust to so it was alright.”

The 20 year old from Sale forced his way back into the senior line with a dominant display in the VFL’s side opening match against Sandringham.

With his body back to full fitness Hams is now after consistency.

“Hopefully I can just get some games on the board here in the seniors and stay in the team.

“Keep playing consistent footy and if I have to go back in the two’s and keep building my way through there then I will.”
