Warnie from The Traders, AFL.com.au’s NAB AFL Fantasy experts, will be taking a look at the Bombers each week exclusive to essendonfc.com.au.

LAST WEEK

Sunday afternoon was one to forget for the Bombers, however some of the popular Fantasy Dons helped with the pain of the loss.

Midfielder Brent Stanton was at his Fantasy best. Racking up 34 touches and taking 10 marks, Stants finished on 143 points in a great display for the 1343 coaches who own him.

While Brendon Goddard’s 88 was a little down on his usual output, Dyson Heppell produced a stellar game collecting 33 touches for 113 points. Jonathan Giles made a sound debut with 74 points. The ruckman added $4K to his price off the back of his 25 hit outs.

Owners of Alex Browne are ruing the red vest he was handed after scoring just 12 points.

TOP 5 SCORERS V WESTERN BULLDOGS

  • 143 – Brent Stanton (MID, $585,000)
  • 113 – Dyson Heppell (MID, $515,000)
  • 109 – Zach Merrett (FWD/MID, $488,000)
  • 101 – Michael Hibberd (DEF, $427,000)
  • 88 – Brendon Goddard (FWD/MID, $501,000)

ON THE RADAR

After I successfully picked up Stanton last week, he is still at a good price considering his last four matches where he has returned 114, 122, 124 and 143. A breakeven of 72 should be reached however his history on the Giants isn’t as high as you might expect.

Still, the Bombers have one of the friendliest Fantasy fixtures over the last five weeks. Stanton could be an x-factor in round 23 as the Bombers take on the Magpies, one of his favourite teams to play against. Stanton averages 122 in his last five matches against Collingwood.

Consider Michael Hibberd as a defender this week if you’re shopping for one. At $427K and a breakeven of 73, the soft draw makes him a valuable selection as your fifth or sixth man down back.

WHAT’S COMING UP

The Bombers travel to Sydney for their Sunday game against Greater Western Sydney in round 19.

Last time they met, back in round 12 in 2014, David Zaharakis starred in the 15 point win with 34 disposals and 132 points. This was the same match that saw Jobe Watson hurt his thigh but not before posting 95 points.
