Up to 15 AFL-listed Dons will be eligible for the upcoming VFL finals series kicking off next month.

With the first week of the VFL finals and the final week of the AFL Home and Away season aligning, all fit Essendon players are eligible to play.

However, should the VFL Bombers progress beyond the first week, AFL-listed players must have played at least six VFL games and no more than 12 AFL games this season.

The eligibility status of James Gwilt and Courtenay Dempsey as of 27th August remain unknown after playing 11 and 12 AFL games respectively this season.

Essendon VFL still has the chance to nab a top-four spot in the final round should results go its way.

To finish fourth, the Bombers must beat Richmond and hope Footscray, who they knocked over last Friday night, lose to Werribee.

Box Hill await the fourth placed side, after they sewed up the minor premiership last weekend.

Should both Essendon and Footscray win, the Bombers would finish fifth which would set up an elimination final against Casey Scorpions next Saturday afternoon.
