It’s been a tough month for young forward Joe Daniher.

Daniher has been unable to replicate his impressive form from earlier in the season, with a combination of wet weather and poor ball use limiting his opportunities.

However, interim coach Matthew Egan is maintaining faith in the 21-year old believing that the effort he has shown in recent weeks is not representative of his on-field performance.

“(Daniher) is learning the game in a really tough position, and he’s playing on the best defenders every week,” Egan said.

“For a young forward, his development is going really well.”

An All-Australian defender, Egan was quick to compliment Daniher’s ability to take on the coaches’ instructions and adjust his game accordingly.

Particularly, Egan noted Daniher’s drive to get to the contest against the Tigers and present a better option for his teammates when moving forward – something that had been lacking from his game in previous weeks.

“What I really liked last week, he really tried to work his opponent over,” Egan said.

“He was out in front of his opponent working him over and trying to get up the field up a bit more and get involved in the game.”

Daniher is the club’s leading goal kicker and currently sits on 34 for the season, building on his total of 28 from 2014 which saw him claim the award as the club’s leading goalkicker.
