Zach Merrett’s 34 disposals against Carlton on Saturday has seen the midfielder break the Essendon record for most disposals in a season.

His 657 disposals for the season eclipses the mark set by Jobe Watson in his Brownlow medal winning year and places him sixth overall across the competition.

Merrett averaged 30 disposals throughout his 22 games this season.

His season high (38) came against Gold Coast when he captained the side to victory.

In just his third AFL season, the 20 year old recorded 30 or more possessions in 12 matches.
