Essendon has promoted Shaun McKernan to the senior list as the mid-season nominated rookie.
It means McKernan is available for senior selection as early as this Friday's clash against Sydney.
Clubs are allowed one mid-season rookie upgrade without having to place a senior listed player on the long term injury list.
McKernan has already played two senior games this year and has kicked 15 goals from his eight VFL games.
