Hurley 'good to go'

Michael Hurley is confident he'll be ready to take on the Swans next week.

Essendon defender Michael Hurley has declared he will shake off a left calf strain and be "good to go" for Saturday week's Elimination Final against Sydney at the SCG.

Hurley pulled up sore after the round 21 loss against Adelaide and has missed the past two games but told AFL.com.au he wasn't far away.

"If there was a game this weekend, I'd probably be fine to play as well, so the extra week's been handy and I'll be nice and fresh and ready to go," Hurley said.

The 27-year-old ran 7-8 kilometres on Wednesday and will "ramp up again" on Friday in preparation for the Swans clash as the Bombers look to win their first final since 2004.

It's been a remarkable season for Hurley, who missed 2016 but has returned to average 25 disposals through 20 games.

He admitted to not knowing what his form would be like after the year off.

"I wasn't really sure, to be honest. Missing the year off, I didn't really know what was going to happen coming back. It was pretty exciting I guess," Hurley said.

"It was a bit of a slow start to the season but I thought my form in the middle and the back half was pretty solid."
