The red and black army will have even more fire power in 2018 with the Club unveiling the Cheer Squad and Active Areas have joined forces and will now officially be known as the Bomber Squad.

Sitting behind the goals, the Bomber Squad is made up of Essendon’s most dedicated and passionate members, who go above and beyond to support the team each week.

Essendon Chief Marketing Officer Justin Rodski said the changes would have a positive impact.

“The purpose of the change is to improve the experience for everyone,” Rodski said

“We want to create a better atmosphere at our games, create a genuine home ground advantage and encourage all members to cheer loud and show their support for the team.”

“The area behind the goals is really important to set the tone around the stadium and build that energy for the players”

“The Club will invest in the area to provide more flags, banners and red and black paraphernalia to make a big statement.”

“We are also committed to ensuring the entire area is a safe and enjoyable place for our members to watch the football and the entire bay will now be a dry area”

The Bomber Squad will continue to fulfil traditional cheer squad duties and will be steered by a selected committee of members.

“The club invited expressions of interest from members to join the Bomber Squad committee to help shape the future direction”

“We have a good cross section of Cheer Squad and Active Area members represented on the committee to ensure all voices are heard and the roles and responsibilities can be rotated on a weekly basis.”

“We all share a love for the Essendon Football Club and I can’t wait to see the Bomber Squad up and firing in Round 1 against the Crows.”
