New recruit Will Hams has been handed his guernsey number for the 2013 season.

Hams, who was recruited earlier this week from Gippsland Power in the 2013 AFL Pre-Season Draft, will wear No.41 for his first year in the red and black.

Last week, Essendon finalised the official playing guernsey numbers for season 2013.

Exciting father/son recruit Joe Daniher inherited his father’s famous No.6 guernsey, worn by Anthony Daniher between 1987-1994 as well as uncle Neale Daniher.

Brendon Goddard will don the No.9 guernsey for his first season in the red and black, while emerging talent Michael Hibberd has taken on the No.1 jumper - made famous by Essendon champions including Merv Neagle, Mark Harvey and Mark Johnson.

New guernsey numbers have been allocated to Tom Bellchambers (No.2) and second-year player Jackson Merrett (No.20).

In a strong show of faith, Nick O’Brien was awarded the club’s prestigious No.10 guernsey, worn by club legend John Coleman and most recently by Mark McVeigh, who announced his retirement this year.

The club’s other new recruits Jason Ashby, Dylan van Unen, Martin Gleeson, Sean Gregory and Nick Kommer will take numbers 14, 33, 35, 37 and 38 respectively.
