That was the Bombers quarter time lead and it’s the biggest advantage the side has held at the first break since round one 2015. In that match against Sydney, the Bombers led by 26 points at quarter time.

The early lead against Collingwood was made all the more valuable given the wet conditions in the opening term and it was basically that quarter time margin that separated the two sides when the final siren sounded.

The Bombers efficiency inside 50 was 65 per cent, compared to Collingwood’s 39 per cent. That means the Bombers were able to generate 28 scoring shots from 43 forward 50 entries, while the Pies had 26 shots from 66 entries.

Joe Daniher booted three goals on his way to winning the ANZAC Day Medal. He also had three goal assists, three one percenters and two running bounces to go with his eight marks (four inside 50) and 16 disposals.

Daniher joins Mark Mercuri, James Hird, Andrew Lovett, Patrick Ryder and David Zaharakis as winners of the ANZAC Day Medal.

Brendon Goddard again showed his importance around the clearances, producing nine for the Bombers. Goddard, Dyson Heppell, Zach Merrett and Darcy Parish combined for 27 of the Dons 41 clearances.

Essendon’s dynamic forward line booted 13 of the side’s 15 goals. Orazio Fantasia led the way with four, while Daniher, Cale Hooker and Josh Green kicked three each.
