Cale Hooker has capped a stunning season for the Bombers by claiming his first Best and Fairest award.

The Western Australian won by 54 votes from Michael Hurley and Dyson Heppell.

“Thank you to all the supporters, you are the back bone of the Club,” Hooker said.

“To the boys, let’s stick together and be passionate and who knows what’s in store for us.”

Hooker was named in the All-Australian backline last season and continued his rich vein of form in the early rounds in 2015.

But an injury to Jake Carlisle in the middle of the season, saw Hooker moved into the forward line.

The gamble paid off with Hooker’s contested marking proving a real asset for the side.

He finished the season with 21 goals.

But it was a retiring defender he thanked first.

“Fletch has been such a great mentor to me and he probably doesn’t even realise it,” he said.

Hooker was selected by the Bombers with the 54th pick in the 2007 National Draft.

He made his debut against the Western Bulldogs in round 21, 2008.

The 26 year old has now played 133 games for the Club.

He averaged 18 disposals and seven marks per game in 2015.
