VFL coach Hayden Skipworth says his team is eager to perform ahead of their match-of-the-round clash against Collingwood on Sunday.

It’s the first time the Bombers play at Windy Hill this season, with Skipworth admitting the chance to represent the club on ANZAC Day weekend is a fantastic occasion.

“Obviously coming off a one-point loss, so they boys are really keen to get back into it again. And to play at Windy Hill, the day after ANZAC Day is a fantastic opportunity.

“We expect a big crowd there with all the members that are coming down, so we expect a lot of noise and it will be fantastic to play in front of a big crowd at Windy Hill.”

Capatalising on opportunities has been a focus this week, as the Bombers look to improve on their round-one loss.

“Same as usual, it’s all about us, and we have to fix up a few issues,” Skipworth said.

“We won the clearances and won the disposals but we just couldn’t score. So it’s a big emphasis on ball movement trying to get easier shots on goal and easier scores.”

Jon Giles is set to lead the ruck for the Bombers against Collingwood big-man Jarrod Witts in a match up that looms as a major factor to the end result.

“It’s going to be a fantastic contest, also Shaun McKernan helping out as well. Between the two of them they will have to be at their best to go against a really good ruckman.”

While Conor McKenna plays his first game for the club after making exciting progress during the off-season.

“Conor has been fantastic.

“His attitude and desire to get better has been first rate. His skills have improved week-by-week and we expect him to play forward mainly and kick some goals for us.”
