A total of six life memberships were awarded at Monday night’s Annual General Meeting.

The recipients were made up of a broad range of people who have all contributed greatly to the success of the Club through their involvement.

Daryl Jackson AO:

Daryl has had a proud association with the Essendon Football Club over a long period of time. Beginning with his involvement as a player with Essendon U19s team, Jackson’s impact at the Club has been profound and driven by his passion and love for all things Essendon.

In December of 2004, Jackson was elected to the Essendon board – a position he held for 11 years until stepping aside earlier in 2015. A successful architect, Jackson also contributed his professional expertise in the planning stages for both the Windy Hill precinct and the True Value Solar Centre.

Julie Hewes:

Julie has been involved with the Essendon Football Club for over 50 years and has been a volunteer for 20 of those. She has dedicated much of her time to the Club in a number of roles, whether it be as a volunteer in the club’s Hall of Fame, running public tours of Windy Hill, arranging contact between Essendon players and Essendon members as well as fulfilling club experiences for those in our community who may be going through tough times. Julie has shown great compassion and dedicated countless hours to ensuring that our fans are always thought of.

Alan Gordon:

Alan joined the Social Marketing Committee in 1993 and since then has volunteered his time in a range of roles. He has particularly been involved in fundraising activities for the club at home games, dinner dances,  the Crichton Medal, training sessions, family days and at VFL matches over the last 20 years.

Brian Hammond:

Brian is also a member of the Social Marketing Committee, having joined in 1990. For the last 26 seasons Brian has been a dedicated volunteer performing numerous roles for the club and has been an important part of our fundraising efforts. His work does not go unnoticed, and his willingness to give has been integral to helping the club.

Graeme Rowe:

Graeme has had a long involvement with the Social Committee even prior to joining in 1993. Following in his father’s footsteps, Graeme has shown great dedication in the work he has done on a volunteer basis. His fundraising efforts have been widespread and highly valued.

Courtenay Dempsey:

Demps was the only current player to receive life membership on Monday night. His career at the Bombers has spanned 10 years since he joined the team in the 2005 draft.
A speedy defender, Demps has established himself as a valued member of the team and has shown great maturity over the last few years in reaching new levels as a player.
