Essendon Women’s Network in conjunction with Chemist Warehouse is pleased to announce the nominations for the 2015 Football Woman of the Year Award are now open.

The prestigious award recognises women who have made a significant contribution to the game of Australian rules football.

In 2015, there will be three categories open for nominations which include professional, honourary and emerging leader.

The winner from each categorie will then go into the running to be named the 2015 Football Woman of the Year.

Chair of the Essendon Women’s Network Jane Grover said she expected a strong field of nominees. 

“It’s wonderful for the industry to come together and celebrate the fantastic contribution women make to the game of Australian rules football,” Grover said. 

“The award winners over the past seventeen years have , and in 2015 I’m looking forward to another strong field of nominees to sort through.

“Women are an integral part of the game of Australian rules football, from those who hold office on Club Boards to the ladies who volunteer in the canteens across the country, the Football Woman of the Year Award celebrates their dedication and commitment to making our game better.”

Chief Operating Officer of Chemist Warehouse, Mario Tascone, said he is delighted to be announced as the official partner of the award this season.   

“Chemist Warehouse is proud to support the Football Woman of the Year Award,” Tascone said.

“The Football Woman of the Year Award celebrates and pays tribute to the all important   contribution women across all of Australia make to this great sport.”
