Essendon is continuing to put into practice its game plan for the 2015 season with Wednesday’s education session impressing assistant coach Nathan Bassett.

The club’s mid week session is the main opportunity during the week for the players to focus on improving their ball movement and positioning.

“I liked our ball movement today, I thought it was sharp, crisp and we went forward with pretty good efficiency so there were some good positives,” Bassett said.

“There are some slight adjustments but it is still footy and the guys have had a pretty good footy education the last four years so there knowledge of the game is good.

“There is a number of areas we believe we can get some improvement so we will keep working on those as well as making sure our strengths stay our strengths."

After joining the Bombers at the start of the 2014 season Bassett has been in charge of the forward line and ball movement.

Bassett is pleased with the performance of the playing group throughout the pre-season with both football and fitness objectives being met.

An increase in workload for the maturing playing list is expected to rid the Bombers of last quarter fade-outs in 2015.

“There has certainly been some good improvement over the last few years and the conditioning group has stepped it up a bit more again this year,” Bassett said.

“We are fitter again as we need to be because we need to be stronger in last quarters to close out games.”

The assistant coach praised the performance of his young forward line group consisting of Patrick Ambrose, Zach Merrett and Joe Daniher.
