Exciting youngster Anthony Tipungwuti will make his debut in the red and black jumper on Saturday when he lines up for Essendon’s VFL team against Casey at Windy Hill.

Recruited from the Tiwi Islands, Tipungwuti plays an important role around the club during the week as part of the community department’s youth and education programs.

VFL Coach Hayden Skipworth said fans could expect to be excited by what Tippa will bring to the team.

“He is a real impact player who will play mainly forward, he played half back for Gippsland last year but we will probably play him up forward initially,” he said.

“He tackles hard, has a lot of pressure and is a really exciting player with great skills who hopefully kicks a few goals.”

Skipworth said his side were ready for a tough challenge this weekend against Casey.

“They are a strong side, they were strong last year and were strong again on the weekend,” he said.

“It is going to be a tough hit out but hopefully we can get the win this week.”

Leroy Jetta continues to push his claims for senior selection with consistent performances for the VFL side in their first two matches of the season.

“When you don’t have many injuries there is always a few unlucky guys that miss out, unfortunately for Leroy he is the one at the moment but I am sure his opportunity is just around the corner,” Skipworth said.

Essendon fans are urged to get along to Windy Hill from 1pm on Saturday to kick off the Super Saturday double header before the AFL team takes on St. Kilda at Etihad Stadium.

“The support last week was unbeivable, I have never seen the ground that full and it almost got the boys over the line in the last quarter,” Skipworth said.
